ResCare Announces Group President's Retirement

LOUISVILLE, KY (July 30, 2008) - ResCare, Inc. (NASDAQ: RSCR) the nation's leading provider of residential, training, therapeutic, educational and support services for people with barriers to employment and special needs, has announced that Vincent F. Doran, President of ResCare's Employment and Training Services Group, is retiring. The Employment and Training Services Group includes Arbor E&T, LLC, Job Corps, the Alternative Education unit and the International operations. Employment and training services account for approximately 28% of the Company's revenues.

Mr. Doran joined ResCare in 1997 and has more than 34 years of workforce experience. Prior to becoming President of ResCare's Job Corps operations in 1997, Mr. Doran was with Teledyne, Inc., serving as President of Economic Development and Vice President of Program Development.

"Vince has made an enormous contribution to ResCare," said Ralph G. Gronefeld, Jr., ResCare President and Chief Executive Officer. "I've enjoyed working with him over the last 11 years and will miss his energy and insight. He helped grow ResCare's Job Corps operations and oversaw and effectively integrated our workforce services as we grew into the country's largest one-stop provider. Vince also was instrumental in creating our international unit. I appreciate the contributions he has made to ResCare and wish him all the best in his retirement and future pursuits."

Mr. Gronefield added, "Vince leaves a capable and experienced leadership team at the helm of the Employment and Training Services Group. They will report to me through a transitional period."
